What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of highly focused attention. Forget everything you’ve learned from movies, stage shows and cartoons. Hypnosis IS NOT swinging watches, clucking chickens or mind control. It is the exact opposite! This technique is all about getting back control of your beliefs, habits and emotions. I am simply a guide providing easy instructions that allow you to bypass the critical part of your mind, and access the subconscious mind, which is where your beliefs, habits and emotions reside. It’s not magic, but the results are often magical.
Is there anything to be nervous about?
Not at all! But it’s perfectly normal to be nervous because of how pop-culture portrays it. The experience is very comfortable, relaxing, and familiar. That’s because hypnosis is the same thing as being in a trance, and we drift in and out of trances every day. Some examples of this are when you are driving, meditating, reading a book, or watching tv.
What is it like?
During a session, you will hear everything I say, and remember as much as you would from any regular conversation. Some people feel lighter in the chair, others feel heavier, and many people feel like they are just sitting in a chair listening. There are times you are listening closely, and other times when you mind wanders off. And that’s ok because as we bypass the critical mind, your attention may ebb and flow, which is a sign it’s working. Hypnosis is not a fragile state, so feel free to move, cough, or even open your eyes if you’d like.
How does it work?
The hypnotic state allows you to bypass the critical thinking part of your mind and access the inner mind (subconscious). Here is where we can use suggestions, which the inner mind readily accepts. It also allows you to practice successful outcomes in your imagination, which further ensures positive results. And we can access memories of past events, process them and release unnecessary baggage.
